"If this is true, it would mean that the “fake news” meme ...was essentially kick-started by a neocon activist masquerading as a journalist who has pushed to have pro-Russian views equated with radical Islam."
Well, thanks to some online sleuthing from a couple of bloggers/journalists, there’s good reason to believe that PropOrNot was the brainchild of Michael D. Weiss and the Interpreter staff.
Hank DeBwankey in Who’s behind PropOrNot? I have a theory (with forensic linguistics!) connects the dots between what the media has reported about PropOrNot, and some startling coincidences between concurrent developments in The Interpreter. It finishes with an analysis of the similar writing styles of @michaeldweiss and @propornot on Twitter.
George Eliason in PropOrNot Unmasked…, published the day after, reports on the results of a passive scan of the PropOrNot website that conclusively ties it to The Interpreter.
