Like Yosemite, they seek to lay trap after trap for their apparent enemies, only to see each plan backfire spectacularly
When I think of the US elites and their foreign policy decisions, all that comes into mind is an image of Yosemite Sam. Like Yosemite, they think they run the place. The world I mean. Like Yosemite, they seek to lay trap after trap for their apparent enemies, only to see each plan backfire spectacularly. And like Yosemite, as each plan fails, they hop up and down with barely concealed rage, steam starts coming from their ears, and then they’re onto their next devious plan to do some mischief to someone, somewhere or other, just to show everyone who’s boss.
So there’s Yosemite digging a pit, covering it carefully with a net, then standing back with a self-satisfied chuckle at the thought of his enemy coming along and falling into it. But of course the enemy walks around it, and in his rage he forgets himself, runs straight over it, and – BOSH – promptly falls in. There he is putting a rake on the floor thinking that his enemy will come and step on it. But when he sees his enemy missing it completely, he runs towards it and – THWACK – gets the rake handle slammed in his face. There he is making an elaborate contraption involving a plank of wood, a pivot, and a cannonball. But as he jumps on it as his enemy comes along you know the story. SMASH – his enemy walks by completely unscathed, and the cannonball drops from the sky onto his own head.
And so to the US elites. How they chuckled to themselves as they thought they could regime change Ukraine, park their ships in Sevastopol and surround a country which for some reason they feel they must destroy. BOSH – there went the plan, backfiring spectacularly as the enemy grabbed the peninsula after the people voted for secession, and went and parked its own ships there on a permanent basis.
Boy did that make them mad. So they laid another trap. This time it was round after round after round of sanctions, the purpose being to destroy the economy of the enemy they just can’t live without. THWACK! The enemy simply used the sanctions as an opportunity to invest and diversify, particularly in agriculture and manufacturing, and its economy is now enjoying a period of increasing growth, much to the astonishment of the US elites. But more than that, whereas they thought to demonstrate their might and hegemony, they instead succeeded in causing Russia, China and others to begin the process of slowly but surely pulling themselves out of the dollar system — the driving force behind US hegemony. The words spectacularly and backfiring spring to mind.
Then there was Syria. You know, where they came up with the devilish plan of arming and funding jihadist mercenaries in order to dismember that once peaceful country and decapitate its leader. And it was all going so well for them until – SMASH – their eternal enemy entered the fray to stop yet another country dissolving into a chaotic, terrorist-infested hellhole. Mr Obama, Presidential Puppet at the time, said smugly and bitterly that the Russians would get themselves into a quagmire. Yet as of today, I’m very happy to say that the Syrian army and their allies are close to completely eradicating the al-Qaeda and ISIS infestation from their nation. The world should rejoice. But because the mainstream media will ignore it completely, what are momentous events by any reckoning will pass many Westerners by.
And then there’s the propaganda war. Possibly the most vicious, mendacious and relentless propaganda war the world has ever seen. McCarthyism on steroids, where any voice dissenting from the Groupthink emanating from Washington DC and its army of dutiful stenographers gets labelled Russian propaganda. Is it working, is it working? BOSH! Not really. Many continue to believe it, of course, but every day more and more people wake up to the fact that its only connection to the truth is that it doesn’t actually contain any.
And then of course there’s the “Russians hacked our election” theme. A claim so utterly without even a gnat’s whisker’s worth of evidence that anyone still believing it should be automatically disqualified for jury service. It’s been played out 24/7 for the best part of the year, made a lot of people a lot of money, and helped bring President Donald J. Swamp to heel like an obedient puppy. But here comes that rake again – THWACK! Because if you’re going to make up a claim, and then insist on repeating it without evidence and without ceasing, sooner or later even the dimmest of people will start wondering.
Many more examples could be given, but the latest and finest example of Uncle Yosemite Sam and his army of Tinpot Bandits getting smacked by the rake, is the extraordinary decision of the US State Department, apparently with the express approval of President Swamp, to confiscate and raid consular properties belonging to the Russian Federation. This is of course illegal under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which states:
- The premises of the mission shall be inviolable. The agents of the receiving State may not enter them, except with the consent of the head of the mission.
- The receiving State is under a special duty to take all appropriate steps to protect the premises of the mission against any intrusion or damage and to prevent any disturbance of the peace of the mission or impairment of its dignity.
- The premises of the mission, their furnishings and other property thereon and the means of transport of the mission shall be immune from search, requisition, attachment or execution.
Pretty clear huh? But perhaps the most shocking thing about this whole affair is that having basically torn up the rules of diplomacy, acting effectively like they are at war with Russia, I have not heard one peep of protest by any major US politician. So they’re okay with their Government acting like Tinpot Bandits? I guess so. There’s only one possible explanation for this almost inexplicably crass act, and that is the old, “We need to show them how tough we are” line. But what’s this? THWACK! Did they just step on another rake? Looks like it. Just when the US elites thought that their act of banditry “would show them”, the Russians respond by calmly announcing that they will take the matter to court. Not to an international one, though, but rather to a US one. Well won’t that be interesting? There’s no doubt about the illegality of raiding diplomatic buildings, and so the US court that tries it will find itself in the uncomfortable position of having to choose whether to side with the law, which means finding for the Russian Foreign Ministry against the US State Department, or showing that the US has abandoned law and property rights altogether.
Perhaps the scariest thing about all of this, is that despite running the dumbest and most self-defeating foreign policy ever, old Yosemite still runs around like he owns the place. He still thinks that he is qualified to sort out the little maniac over on the Korean Peninsula. Are you confident of that? That he can do so without major catastrophe and loss of life? Let’s look at Team Yosemite.
They have a Defense Secretary who goes by the name “Mad Dog”, who apparently tried to do his best to sound reassuring, but ended up sounding like Mad Dog is a little too tame:
“We are not looking to the total annihilation of a country, namely North Korea, but as I said, we have many options to do so.”
Oh good. And then we have the US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, who claimed that North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un was “begging for war”, before going on to bring the house down with the funniest joke ever told in a UN Security Council meeting:
“War is never something the United States wants. We don’t want it now. But our country’s patience is not unlimited.”
And if that’s not reassuring enough, there’s always President Swamp himself, who doesn’t appear to have heard the term “keep your cards close to your chest” and who seems to think that sounding “fiery and furious” on Twitter is the best way to solve the world’s most precarious situation.
No, Yosemite and his team of Tinpot Bandits is not competent to sort out that problem. Or indeed any international problem. In fact, until he takes a long hard look at himself, and realises that despite all his claims of exceptionalism, indispensability and invincibleness, he really is just making an absolute ass of himself, he’ll just keep on digging pits and falling into them. That’s what happens to every empire. God raises them up, and when their arrogance reaches unbearable levels, he brings them down, often causing them to fall into their own pits:
“The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught. The Lord has made himself known; he has executed judgment; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands” (Psalm 9:15-16).
That’s the choice facing the Tinpot Bandits in the US elites today. Either stop trying to boss the world around and instead accept your place in a law-based, multi-polar world order, or God will continue to bring you down to the pit.
