Foreign Policy Advisor of the US presidential candidate Donald Trump Carter Page does not think that Russia can be compared with ‘a giant gas station’ according to RIA Novosti.

“This is a bad analogy, very bad. There are so many nice people in this country that it’s hard for me to say something in relation to this comparison. Yes, there are people who like calling Russia that, but there is a big difference,” – he said answering the question about the difference between Russia and ‘a giant gas station’.

Senator John McCain said on CNN that ‘Russia is a giant gas station pretending to be a real country’.

Giving a lecture, organized by the Russian Economic School, Page stated that Russia and the USA had a lot to offer to each other for developing the cooperation. Besides, during the lecture Page underlined for a few times, that he spoke on Thursday in Moscow only as a private person, researcher and entrepreneur, but not a politician.

“Russia can offer the USA cooperation in the energy industry and other diversified sectors, while the USA can offer Russia access to its capital market and new technologies,” – he underlined.

Page also did not comment on his plans and did not answer the question whether he was planning to have meetings with the Russian leaders in Moscow.

Page, founder and managing partner of Global Energy Capital, which invests in energy sector of the developing countries, worked at the Council on Foreign Relations and the Center of National Policy of the USA for a long time.

He spent 3 years in Moscow where he was responsible for the opening of the Merrill Lynch office, and was an advisor on key transactions for Gazprom, RAO UES and others.
