Reading the mainstream media about the Russian economy, one might think the situation in the country is really terrible: as if there was a huge crisis in Russia, its currency is constantly falling. But the devil is not as black as he’s painted: there is no big inflation, the ruble is more or less stable nowadays and, according to some experts, it is even making a historic recovery.

Recently the ruble celebrated its 700th anniversary. It has been through many challenges and survived much worse crises than the present one. Watch the brief history of the Russian currency and how much it changed since its first appearance.
