The Syrian army has liberated the ancient city of Palmyra from Isis militants, according to the Russian military.
Russia's defence minister told Vladimir Putin that the Syrian army operation to recapture the city was completed "with Russian help", the RIA news agency reported. It is the second time Palmyra has been wrested back from Isis control in less than a year.
