General Dynamic's ex-board member thinks US must continue "engaging" with the world
US Secretary of Defense Mad Pooch Mattis traveled last Friday to Asia to reassure Washington's satellites that America's commitment to bombing exotic peoples and stirring up trouble in distant corners of the world has not diminished under the new administration.
At the annual Shangri-La Dialogue conference in Singapore he told foreign delegations the US remained as committed to a "rules-based international order" (the rules being the US does what it wants, and the rest suffer what they must) as ever. The Guardian:
“The 20th century took us out of that,” he said. “What a crummy world if we all retreat inside our own borders. How many people deprived of good lives during the Depression? How many tens of millions of people killed in WWII? Like it or not, we’re part of the world.”
Apparently Mattis believes WWII was caused by everyone retreating inside their own borders. If only Hitler and the Wehrmacht "visited" Czechoslovakia, Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Greece and the Soviet Union, instead of isolating themselves from the world.
That's why the US of A has been permanently bombing half a dozen different peoples in their respective countries for dozens of years. Engagement.
