Mr Lavrov, You Are Either Naïve or Lying About the West and Ukraine

The West doesn’t want peace in the Ukraine, it wants a weak Russia

Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, noted recently that the West “has begun to understand who it’s dealing with in the Ukraine”.

Minister, do you really think that the West didn’t understand two years ago that the Ukraine was trying to retain its eastern provinces by war? That the Donbass isn’t in the Ukraine but a part of Russia which was carelessly abandoned in 1991?

The West understood this very well over the  last two years. They have very good experts, professionals, specialists in Russian philology, who specialize in our part of the globe in order to thoroughly understand the situation. There are excellent specialists.

The point is that the West can’t bear to see Russia strengthening because it wants it to be weak, and that’s why it helped the Ukraine over the last few years, and will keep helping it fight against the Donbass and also Russia, if need be.

Mr. Lavrov, if you are pretending to be naïve, you are extremely dangerous. Are you telling us to wait til the West understands everything to live happily ever after?

You just want to show us that you are working, flying off to Minsk, Berlin, or Geneva. In fact, the Minsk accords are a betrayal of the Russian revolution in the Donbass, and secondly, the West, if it ‘starts to understand’ everything, will never accept the fact that the Crimea belongs to Russia and the Donbass is a self-governed part of the Ukraine.
