Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov is signaling that Moscow is keenly aware of the attempts by lame-duck Obama officials and members of congress to create unassailable obstacles to any attempted rapprochement with Russia by President Trump.
Putin's government is very aware of the strong opposition Trump will face in any attempt to improve relations - something Putin signaled when he declined to respond to Obama's last-minute round of extra sanctions and expulsion of Russian diplomats.
Mr. Lavrov went on to speak about expectations for the Syrian peace negotiations ongoing in Astana.
