Kiev claims its military has captured two Russian soldiers fighting with rebels in eastern Ukraine. But you're not allowed to dispute this claim if you are a reporter with a Russian passport.

Western media outlets are dutifully regurgitating Kiev's claim that it has captured two Russian intelligence officers in eastern Ukraine. However, apparently only "trusted" journalists have been allowed access to the story. AP reporter Nataliya Vasilyeva was banned from attending the news conference regarding the prisoners because she has a Russian passport.

According to reports, Ukraine's Interior Ministry has proposed a POW swap with Russia in which the two alleged Russian officers would be exchanged for Nadezhda Savchenko and 400 Ukrainians. Anton Gerashchenko, advisor to the head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, also called the two captured men “war criminals.”

The Kremlin reiterated on Monday that no regular Russian forces are operating in Ukraine.
