Flash Mob Guantanamo Bay Protest Outside US Embassy in Moscow (Video)

Protestors keep targeting the US embassy with protests over American foreign policy

Yesterday (March 17) a flash mob anti-Guantanamo Bay protest occurred outside the US embassy in Moscow. About a dozen men suddenly appeared outside in orange jumpsuits bearing the word "Guantanamo", shackled and hooded, where they lay down on the pavement next to the embassy gates. Moscow police charged with guarding the embassy were quick to respond, and began taking them away almost immediately.

Russian channel NTV reported that the flash mob protest follows and earlier incident on January 27th when a portrait of Barack Obama appeared outside the embassy with the words "Obama Killer No. 1". The same words appeared on the wall of the embassy itself.

Guantanamo Bay Prison costs about $400 million to operate annually, and has been condemned world-wide for holding prisoners illegally without trial and for practicing interrogation techniques, such as waterboarding, widely considered to be torture. Obama promised to close the prison during his election campaign in 2008 but has so far failed to do so.
