Five Cuban spies imprisoned in the US in 1998 are in Moscow and were interviewed by TV channel RT.

Known as "The Cuban Five", they had been sent to Miami to monitor the activities of Cuban-exile organizations linked to terrorist bombings in Cuba.

Their trial in the heart of anti-Castro Miami was widely condemned as unfair and was overturned by a panel of the US Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, only to be upheld again later.

Though René González was released from prison in 2011, the other four got back their freedom only in 2014, following the thaw in US-Cuban relations during the Obama administration.

The five men talked about the future of US-Cuban relations, as well as the close relationship between Cuba and Russia, the evolving nature of surveillance, and internet freedom.
