A ‘RATNIK’ is an advanced infantry combat outfit, developed in Russia. A top priority project in modernizing Russia’s army, and sanction proof as it is entirely designed and manufactured domestically. Russian soldiers are equipped with the advanced gear at a rate of 50 000 a year.

Among its most important features is modernized bullet resistant armor that protects 90% of a soldier’s body. The Ratnik suite is capable of working in extreme conditions, has specialized features and all necessary communication channels using GLONASS / GPS systems.

The RATNIK provides technology that integrates individual units on the battlefield thanks to a hi-tech helmet equipped with a monitor (thermal and night vision, eye tracking), and a two way built in communication system. In this sense, the introduction of exoskeletons is a yet another step in integrating robotic technologies on the battlefield. Extending human capabilities in transporting heavy loads enhances the human component, allowing one to remain more lucid in making critical decisions.

Ground troops continue to play an important strategic role in modern warfare. With many conflicts occurring in urban centers, rather than open spaces, tanks and other tracked vehicles are very vulnerable making well equipped enhanced ground troops, a tactical advantage otherwise hardly achievable.
