Once again the Russian Federation prevailed over the competition and has been awarded a 2 billion dollar contract from the People's Republic of China, for the delivery of over 24 multi-role SU-35 fighters.

Chemezov, head of Rostec, reiterated that this phase of negotiation has been very long and demanding but has ended successfully with the mutual signing of the contract.

Speculation on the cost of each unit continues but it should be somewhere around $83 million. The low cost is another factor that has made the SU-35 so competitive, compared to other airplanes (the F-22 and F-35 cost almost twice as much, per unit).

The popular blog The Avionst describes its ability to maneuver:

"The Su-35 (NATO designation Flanker E), Russia's latest version of the famous super-manoeuvrable multi role fighter jet has Demonstrated its stunning capabilities During the first day of the 50th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. During its display, the 4 ++ generation aircraft has showcased some almost impossible maneuvers, demonstrating unbelievable low-speed handling authority."

In addition to formidable maneuverability, the aircraft is capable of carrying the following weaponry:

1. Guns Onboard 30mm gun with 150 rds

2. Guided air-to-air missiles R-27R1 (ER1) R-27T1 (ET1) R-27P (EP) R-73E RVV-aye

3. Guided air-to-surface missiles Kh-59ME Kh-31A, Kh-31P Kh-29T (Tye), Kh-29L

4. Guided bomb units 500KR-KAB, KAB-500OD 1500KR-KAB, KAB-1500L

5. Air bombs FAB-500T-Betab 500ShP ODAB-500pm OFAB-OFAB 250-270 100-120-P-50T Incendiary bombs

6. Cluster bombs RBK-500-D SPBE

7. Unguided missiles S-8KOM, S-8OM, 8BM S-S-13T, S-S-13OF 25OFM-PU

8. Suspension points - in addition to the armaments on board the modern Su-30MK, it is planned to additionally arm the Su-35 with new types of air-to-air and air-to-surface guided missiles, including long-range types. The maximum ordnance load of the Su-35 is 8,000 kg. These may be placed on 12 weapon hard points.

Given all these advantages, it’s not difficult to understand why the People's Liberation Army Air Force has long been interested in purchasing this tremendous example of cutting-edge technology.

Su-35 weapons

This latest contract, once again, demonstrates how Russian weapons export is living a golden moment with not only important collaborations and joint developments, like in India with PAK-50, but also with sales skyrocketing in different sectors.

The purchase of the Mistral ships, from France by Egypt, foreshadows new supplies of Russian arms to the government of Al Sisi. China, for example, before the SU-35, had become the first country in the world to purchase the state of the art formidable air defense system S-400.

Recent contracts have demonstrated that the Russian Federation is increasingly being chosen as the preferred supplier for weapons, even by countries that used to be armed exclusively by the United States.
