"Our joint struggle against fascism and militarism gives us the moral right to remember history once again, including the fact that four countries — the Soviet Union, Britain, the United States and China — formed the nucleus of the anti-Hitler coalition," the Kremlin spokesperson said.

Li Zhanshu, the head of the General Office of the Communist Party of China, clarified that the Beijing celebrations were scheduled for September 3.

"We are planning to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Victory in WWII and in the resistance to Japanese occupiers on September 3. We are inviting a high-level Russian delegation to these celebrations," Li Honshu said.

He added that China had invited a Russian military crew to take part in the parade in Beijing.
