Yesterday Putin marched with record setting numbers of Russians to mark WW2 victory day

The 2018 Victory Day march drew a record breaking 1 million marchers in Moscow alone. In all of Russia there are an estimated 10 million total marchers spread through various cities, with more marching from abroad outside Russia and some even celebrating from outer space!
A new Russian tradition called the "Immortal Regiment" gives a more personalized take on the Victory Day marches. The "Immortal Regiment" celebration honors the fallen heroes with photos and posters in their memory.

World War 2 was a war fought and won largely by the incredible sacrifices of soldiers on the Eastern front. These victories came at an absolutely incredible human cost. An estimated 26 million Soviets were slaughtered, the majority of whom were Russians. And so Russians today celebrate to remember the sacrifices their country made with the Victory Day celebrations.
