Muscovites will no longer have to worry about taking a dip in the Moscow River after plans were announced to install 53 wastewater treatment plants within the city limits, the Interfax news agency reported Friday.

The treatment plants will be built as part of a project to improve the ecological situation of Moscow River and some of them could be ready by 2018, the city's chief architect Sergei Kuznetsov said, Interfax reported.

“After these structures start operating the river will become a full-fledged part of the city. You will be able to catch fish and bathe here without any concerns,” Kusnetsov was quoted as saying.
