Ultra-right group demands Kiev mayor Vitaly Klitschko ban gay pride march — threatening to call in Azov Battalion if Klitschko refuses
One of the big sticks the West uses to beat Russia is that it is a highly homophobic place. This is simply untrue.
It is impossible to generalise about a country as big as Russia. Some people who live there are very homophobic. The great majority are not. Consensual adult gay sex is not against the law and most Russians believe in live-and-let-live and are very tolerant.
The strange thing is that many of the people the West supports in Ukraine are strongly homophobic, as well as racist.
Right Sector, the fascist militia group the West tells you is marginal or doesn’t exist, whose leader Yarosh is an adviser in Ukraine’s Defence Ministry, is a case in point.
Right Sector is now calling for a gay pride parade in Kiev to be banned.
Worse, it is calling for the fascist volunteer Azov Battalion to disperse it if the Ukrainian police won’t.
Here below is an article from TASS that writes all about it.
What will the West say if fascist Right Sector and Azov Battalion goons violently disperse a gay pride parade in Kiev?
Will they report it at all? Will they blame Putin? Will they say the gay pride organisers are Putin’s agents?
I am going to guess that whilst gays in Russia matter, gays in Ukraine don’t.
KIEV, June 2. /TASS/. Activists of the Ukrainian Right Sector radical nationalist group called on Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko to ban a gay pride parade scheduled for June 6.
"Most Kiev residents are religious people who are opposed to this event," the Right Sector said in its address to the mayor.
The Right Sector said the parade should be banned to prevent provocations and conflicts.
The radical group that is outlawed in Russia had earlier asked the Azov volunteer battalion to help disperse the parade if it took place in Kiev.
A previous gay pride parade in Kiev was cancelled following similar threats.
